Failing to Have Uninsured Motorist Coverage Could Turn Your Life Upside Down.

Another note on the importance of having uninsured motorist (UM) coverage on your next auto insurance policy. Unfortunately, Florida is home to the highest amount of uninsured motorist on it's roadways in the nation. Combining this with Florida's notorious no-fault system means that each person needs to have UM coverage to protect themselves.

The Florida legislature has again failed to approve the the responsibility-based auto insurance reform in their most recent session. This legislation was designed to require everyone to have mandatory bodily injury insurance, which would have ensured at least a minimal amount of recovery from the at fault party.

Florida's high rate of uninsured motorist means that we have to protect ourselves. In a recent study by the Insurance Research Council (IRC), it appears that roughly 25% of the cars have no insurance. (1) Not having this essential coverage is rolling the dice with a 1 of 4 odds.

These type of accidents can happen in a moments notice and failure to plan for them can leave you out of work with mounting medical bills. The worst news a personal injury attorney has to deliver to a serious injured client is that there is not enough coverage to cover their injuries.
